


Energy City signs deal with Green Concepts

Energy City Qatar has awarded a contract to Green Concepts Corporation to provide green building materials to ECQ and its sister cities.
Green Concepts Corporation an affiliate of GTG will be providing a variety of green materials to be used in Energy City buildings, ranging from “rapidly renewable plant materials” such as bamboo, recyclable and reusable industrial and agricultural materials, to renewable energy sources.
The contract was signed in Doha yesterday by Hesham al-Emadi, Energy City Qatar chief executive officer and Shawki Shehadeh, Green Concept Corporation managing director.
Al-Emadi said, “We are delighted to sign this contract. ECQ is a pioneer in introducing green building concept in Qatar. We are proud in having organised a series of seminars and workshops about green buildings”.
Shehadeh said his company is working closely with many international manufacturers as well, covering products related to flooring (carpet, vinyl, and raised floor), movable walls, internal and external cladding, solar panels and many other eco-friendly and LEED certified products.
Ahmad al-Abdulla, ECQ deputy CEO and chief technical officer, said: “In signing this contract with GCC, to provide green materials to our cities, is another proof of our commitment to the environmental policies of the government. We are equally proud to be founding members of Qatar Green Building Council, one of the pillars of Qatar’s initiatives for improving the environment”. Being developed by Gulf Energy ECQ is set to become the Gulf’s first hydrocarbon industry hub.
